SO far, it has proved difficult to trace the fortunes of our paternal grandmother's family beyond the boundaries of Aberdeen city.

We know that they worked in mainly manual jobs, in factories such as Aberdeen's now defunct Comb Works or in the city's Weaving Industries.

Grandma Edwards latterly lived at a house in Nelson Street, Aberdeen.

Grandma Edwards father was David Dundas (born about 1847). He was a ropemaker or rope spinner.

David's father Joseph Dundas (born 1803 in Aberdeen) sadly died in Aberdeen City Poorhouse in November 1883. He was a carpet weaver.

One of Joseph’s brothers, Benjamin Dundas, became a manager at Broadford Works in Aberdeen, which was a well known linen weaving factory.

Picture: I believe this lady to be Georgina Dundas (1830 to 1915). She married a Thomas Fraser and she was the sister of our Great-Grandfather David Dundas.
